Wordpress Ditched - Hello Serendipity

Tuesday, September 18. 2007

The last critical bug in Wordpress encouraged me to look for alternatives. A friendly soul in the forum of the Heise Newsticker [de] made me aware of Serendipity. And wow! Serendipity got me! It has a cleaner code base than Wordpress. The history showed definitely fewer security flaws and the features... Wow! It has everything I had to install as plugins in Wordpress and much more:

Trackbacks and Pings Turned Off

Wednesday, June 6. 2007

"Akismet has caught 15,158 spam for you since you first installed it." These f***ing spammers never give up. In the last days more and more spam got posted through trackbacks. So I had to turn this feature off :-(. This means my blog won't get notified any longer, when you link to a post on my blog. But I am still very happy about every serious comment. So if you link to my blog, please submit a short comment, if you like. Just for the case that you are using Wordpress for your blog, too, I found the article Combating Comment Spam on the Wordpress Codex very helpful.

Spammers - go away!!!

Monday, April 3. 2006

Well, the title should really say "Spammers - f*** off", but I don't want to sound rude. In the last days more and more comments were posted that obviously were originated by spam bots. Therefore I had to install a wordpress plugin that displays an image containing text, which has to be entered before a comment is published. Sorry readers for that annoyance, but it is still better than requiring everyone to register, before he is able to post a comment and I still like to read your opinions.

Wordpress 2.0.2 Security Update

Friday, March 10. 2006

If you are using wordpress and haven't noticed yet. The good people released a security update.

Already upgraded, of course. No problems and the upgrade procedure description is much easier than last time.

Polls

Monday, January 23. 2006

If you know me from either KDE-Look.org or KDE-Apps.org you know that I love polls.

And starting today, there will be polls on my homepage, too. Don't expect me from updating these polls as often as the ones on Look and Apps - it won't make sense anyway since not much people are visiting my homepage. But I would be happy to notice a participation here.

Happy voting!
