Fehmarn is located in the east sea of Germany.

I and my family visited my mother, who recently moved to the isle Fehmarn, for one week. It was way too short (as every vacation) but we will be back soon as Fehmarn is a very beautiful isle in the east sea of Germany just right before Denmark. We visited almost every possible beach on the isle and every single beach was different. From a sandy (but artifical) south beach to a rocky east beach.

And of course I had my camera with me and took a lot of beautiful pictures. In my opinion two of them are very suitable as wallpapers and here they are.

Dunes of Fehmarn

This time I've packaged the wallpaper in the KDE 4 wallpaper format, which includes multiple file sizes. KDE will automatically select the appropriate size after installing the wallpaper. Please see below for more information on how to install it or how to use the wallpapers on non-KDE systems.

Canola and Poppy

Just like the wallpaper above also packaged in the KDE 4 wallpaper distribution format.

Installation for KDE 4

Since KDE 4 wallpapers can be packaged in a special file structure. The author can provide some meta information for the wallpaper and provide alternative resolutions. KDE will then automatically select the correct size of the wallpaper depending on the actual screen size.

All you have to do is to download the file and extract it into the appropriate folder.

To install the wallpapers for the current user only the wallpapers must be installed in the KDE settings directory of your home folder. Just execute one of the following commands:

• Dunes of Fehmarn:
  tar jxvf Dunes_of_Fehmarn.tar.bz2 -C `kde-config --localprefix`/share/wallpapers
• Canola and Poppy:
  tar jxvf Canola_and_Poppy.tar.bz2 -C `kde-config --localprefix`/share/wallpapers

To install the wallpapers for all users extracts the archives into the global wallpapers folder:

• Dunes of Fehmarn:
  sudo tar jxvf Dunes_of_Fehmarn.tar.bz2 -C `kde-config --prefix`/share/wallpapers
• Canola and Poppy:
  sudo tar jxvf Canola_and_Poppy.tar.bz2 -C `kde-config --prefix`/share/wallpapers

Other Desktop Environments

Just extract the archive. The wallpapers can be found in the subdirectory content/images. The wallpapers are available there in the following sizes:

• 1024x768
• 1280x800
• 1280x1024
• 1440x900
• 1600x1200
• 1920x1200

Microsoft Windows

These wallpapers are not supported on Microsoft Windows. Please install Linux or try using IZarc to extract the images.
